The New Jersey Arya Samaj Mandir, Inc.
Humanitarian Mission (NJASMHM) responded very quickly after reading a newspaper article and is trying to keep its vision alive by reaching out and lessening human sufferings to a family who is in desperate need on the West Coast Demarara.
NJASMHM presented on behalf of all its donors and contributors the sum of US$ 1000 to Mr & Mrs Soobas Ramgobin and their family to help rebuild their home, which was destroyed by fire on March 7, 2009. The help could not have come at a better time as the NJASMHM and the United Arya Samaj Mandirs, Inc celebrated the 134th Anniversary of the foundation of the Arya Samaj.
This year’s theme was based on the sixth principles of the Arya Samaj “To do good to the whole world is the main objective of the Arya Samaj, that is, to improve the physical, spiritual and social well- being of all mankind.” Representative of the Guyana Central Arya Samaj, Danraji Hemraj and representative of the NJASMHM Guyana Chapter, Chitra Lall hands over the money to Mr & Mrs Ramgobin. This donation to the Ramgobin comes one week after the villagers of Windsor Forest/ La Jalousie on the West Coast Demarara, donated what little money they could to help in the reconstruction process.
While most of the residents contributed money, ranging from $ 100 to $ 1000, other residents lent their hands in the actual reconstruction of the house. The villagers donated a total of $ 195,000 to Ramgobin and his family. Pandit Sugrim complimented all those who reached out and embraced this family during their time of hardship. Pandit Suresh said it was a very sad story and in keeping with the organization’s vision it must help the sufferers.
The Ramgobin family expressed their thanks to the NJASMHM/ Guyana Central Arya Samaj and all their supporters for the assistance they had given them. He informed that the reconstruction process was going on and the Ramgobin family is expected to move into the house in approximately two weeks. The fire left Ramgobin, his wife and their six children homeless and void of any personal possessions |
